The first most important aspect of getting closer to getting the physique you have always desired, is SETTING GOALS.
Without a realistic goal, there would actually be no point. You would go to the gym and lift a few weights here and there, and not focusing on what you are doing. Or you might go run a couple of km's until you are tired. The problem I have with this is that you are not pushing any boundries when you are training like this.
That brings me to my second point. Your goals must be realistic. Be realistic about your weight loss goals and you will not be disappointed when you do not reach them. Also, rather set your goals in losing cm's, than losing kg's. Especially when you are training with weights.
